Deer With One Ear

2017

"Deer with One Ear" is an art piece made entirely from welded steel rods, designed for a Louisiana college art exhibition. The wireframe deer head aims to poke fun at Southern taxidermy traditions. By making the deer sport just one ear, it prompts the viewer to ask why. Beyond its playful appearance, the piece invites a light-hearted reflection on the value of traditional art forms, suggesting that sometimes, meaning can be found in what's left out rather than what's included. It's a whimsical take on taxidermy culture, nudging us to rethink the purpose and meaning behind such artistic expressions.
